There is a lot to get through this week at Beer League - including the upcoming Beer League Turns Six party at the end of the month! Let's get started with some info about this weeks beer which is Citradelic Tangerine IPA from New Belgium Brewing. Then we'll move into the other events that are going on around town and at The Waiting Room!
So this weeks beer is a new offering from New Belgium Brewing in scenic (and often quite cold, yet beautiful) Ft. Collins, Colorado. Visiting the NBB Brewery in Ft. Collins seems like a right of passage for beer and brewing enthusiasts, or at the very least beer enthusiasts who either visit or are lucky enough to live in the greater Denver area. I mean, it's the brewery tour where Tyler the Captaineer first discovered Eric's Ale. It's also the brewery that brews Citradelic Tangerine IPA.
It's also the only brewery tour that we're aware of that has an intermission to take a slide from the second floor to the first.
Citradelic Tangerine IPA is described by ol’ New Belgium Brewing as:
Tune in and hop out with New Belgium Citradelic. Set adrift on a kaleidoscopic wave of hoppiness brought to you by a mystical marriage of Citra hops and tangerine peel, which elevates each sip onto a plane of pure tropical, fruity pleasure. Citradelic’s namesake hop and fruit combine to jam with visions of additional hops like citrusy Mandarina Bavaria, tropical Azzaca, and fruity Galaxy for a colorful explosion that’s grounded by just a touch of malty sweetness. Bored by the status quo? Expand your palate with a pour of Citradelic. Launching January 2016.
We take the highest and the lowest and give you the bestest
zombywoof – 17/20
This is as good as any IPAs I’ve ever had. Balanced with prominent tangerine notes. The tangerine really makes it extra zesty without cloying sweetness.
DrSilverworm – 11/20
12oz bottle. Enjoy by: 22May16. Clear orange color. Thin white head. Leaves good ridges of lace. Biscuity, cake-like malt in the nose. Bit toastier in the flavor. Candied tangerine. Spicy, peppery hop, touch of citrus. Moderate bitter taste, some tang, zest. Moderate sweet taste. Mild bite in the finish. Kind of a rougher texture. Lighter to moderate, abrupt carbonation. Medium-plus body. Not really a fan. Interesting aroma, but kind of artificial, forced, candy-like. And not smooth nor easy-drinking.
