Bur Oak Brewing Dark Star – Beer League

It's that time again, Beer League.

Let's talk about this weeks beer, and let's get some flippin' flappin' sources to go with it, right? Right! This weeks beer is Dark Star from the Bur Oak Brewing Company. Bur Oak describes their beer as:

Darkstar offers the crisp smooth character of a classic German Kolsch ale, combined with a deep, dark sensation delivered through a mild caramel nuttiness. Despite its harsh exterior, Darkstar goes down easy.

So Happy It's Thursday!

We feel so lucky to have this weather in St. Louis we're going to celebrate by hanging out on the patio, throwing some discs, drinking some beers, playing some pinballs, gabbering, jabbering, yammering, hemming, hawing, and enjoying the company of fine people and great beers. Ok, great people and great beers. You guys are ok!

A St. Brewis Says What?

So we went to St. Brewis (2nd best website name ever) and got their description of this weeks beer:

"Well whaddya know...another Bur Oak beer that was impressive.  An interesting take on a classic style, the dark malts and clean yeast made this very close to a Schwarzbier (which I think it the most underrated beer style).  This would be a great summer beer because it's satisfyingly dark, refreshing, and easy to drink.  Pick it up if you see it on the shelf."

We send out the beer every week in an email as well - some people like that more than having to go through the website or checking our facebook. So join up!

The St. Louis Art Machine is a collaboration of St. Louis artists selling art for $5 out of cigarette machines.

What in the hell is a St. Louis Art Machine, you ask?

The St. Louis Art Machine is a repurposed cigarette machine owned by Sarah Harris, made mechanically sound by Tyler Harris, and filled with the tiny, cigarette-pack-sized-arts of local artists and makers.

Because of our desire to make small art affordable and approachable, all works are set at a flat-rate of $5 ea.

Currently the St. Louis Art Machine is installed at The Waiting Room Bar & Venue, where it will reside for about four months until it moves to its next home with a new set of artists.
