Beer League: Samuel Smith’s Organic Chocolate Stout – Good for TWO stamps!

This week we're going to try Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout - and you're going to earn two stamps for it. It's been really fun looking at the Samuel Smith website and reading more about Organic Chocolate Stout then reading the (nearly) universally good reviews on BeerAdvocate and RateBeer. It's like the bad reviews become even funnier after reading the glut of reviews that all agree that it's good and you should drink it at Beer League.

At Samuel Smith they've condensed the beer description down to this:

"Brewed with well water (the original well, sunk in 1758, is still in use with the hard water is drawn from 85 feet underground), the gently roasted organic chocolate malt and organic cocoa impart a delicious, smooth and creamy character, with inviting deep flavours and a delightful finish – this is the perfect marriage of satisfying stout and luxurious chocolate."

I mean, it's not that it's universally loved - it's not 4.5+ on untappd - but this isn't a beer about numbers or reviews. This is a beer that's just about being delicious. We're into that.

This week we're using RateBeer!

beaze1591 – 20/20

Poured into English pint. Poured a dark chocolate with a thick pillow top head. Smells delicious, chocolate and marshmallows with just a hint of alcohol. This beer is excellent

jackflibb – 1/20

Maybe it’s that I’m not tasting to style, but this amalgam of probably decent beer, sugar and extract is one of the most foul flavored beers I’ve had since I stopped drinking flavored beers. Pours with an amazing dark color and rich creamy head.

Adopt-A-Family 2015

Sara & Emily are going to Adopt-A-Family (or two or three) - and TWR is a drop-off point for donations. It's another way for Beer League to give during the holidays!
